This was an interesting B-side. Motown had been putting blockbuster B sides out on the back of the hits, notably "Ask Any Girl" and "Always in My Heart," but Berry Gordy felt just a simple, beautiful love song showing the group's ability to do more mature music was a good move, which it was. "Ask Any GIrl," re-edited and remixed, was ready as a followup to "Nothing But Heartaches" and replaced "Always in My Heart" on the "More Hits" album.

hey big bear this is one of my favorites ask any giirl is to do you have the boss by diana?now if you do listen to all for one.she sings that.then listen to one shining moment when she opens up on there i didnt know old girl had it in her..i donot understand stand why you dislike mary so much.people say mary slept with alot of men.so what.still double standards.a man a plaa woman is labelled a whore but as i always say tits and ass keeps men in trouble.we women do not get in trouble like that.

@SpazChat You are one Billionth percent correct. I thank God Berry chose to push Diane. who became Diana Ross. Back during the early sixties Oprah was RIGHT..Oprah was 10 i was 8. and I dont Remember seeing anyone or heard anyone that sounded or Looked like Diana. It was the Voice I heard on the radio that got my attention. not how LOUD, or SOULFUL. because there were many Martha Reeves, Gladys Knight or LOUD singers but. It was Diana's Tone sound. Light, elastic.Light like Glass yet Strong.

@Vincent50 Exactly..I too was 9 when i heard this..i heard it from the LP. People under rate diana..its very sad..because she really really had a Sound that was very very unique and different..it wasent black nor white. some one said that this song was a preview of what diana was to become..Thats exactly the truth. This song show cased diana's future sound..calm, relaxed..sensual. and the backing is just Lovely..this is The Supremes sound right here!

Right. B-side of Stop! Remember it well. Not even the Andantes supported Diana the way Mary & Flo did. These three were born to sing. One of my favorite songs indeed.

That VOICE OMG..and of course the back ground aint Exactly asleep Either! I do love that sweet oooooo....and Diana..omg..this is what Made The Supremes the No.1 girl group of all time..And that Voice still sounds Damn good Today. This was back in 1965-66 it is now 2011 and Diana can still Bring your Ears to Erect Attention.

I think this is one of the Supremes' best... And to think that in 1965 this was relegated to a so-called "B-side"...

In the midst of recording hard-hitting hit after hard-hitting hit both H-D-H and the ladies wanted some more relaxed, ballady, jazzy material, uncomplicated, relaxed and initimate and here it was! A wonderful record and it gave a preview of the singer Diana Ross would one day become. The harmonies from Mary and Florence are divine and they were overdubbed several times to create the feel of a choir. Just beautiful.
