Back in 1966, WLS radio in Chicago would announce the top three daily requests from a year earlier prior to playing the current day's top three. For about a week, this song was mentioned as the top request, but they never seemed to play the song when I was listening. I started listening to AM radio in 1966. Almost fifty years after its original release, this is the first time I've ever heard this song.

I was named after this song. It's just too bad that hardly anyone pronounces my name right though!!!!

Debuted Dec, 1965 and was #30 on 12-26-65, on the KIOA, Des Moines, Iowa survey! The big 940!

Oh look, its, 'The Sunrays' ! Little Ricky used to listen to them after he became a teenager. Used to drive Fred and Mrs Trumbull nuts with the noise!

haven't heard this in decades. bought 45 rpm when it came out.Murry Wilson....Brian and Dennis Wilsons father produced and managed the Sunrays. Song has a bit of the Gary Lewis sound and that happy sunshiny orchestration similar to 5th Dimension. Murry was committed to "the formula".If it works...work it to death

I had completely forgotten about this song until I found this post. I always liked it as a teenager. No wonder it sounds so much like The Beach Boys. I knew that Murray Wilson (Brian's, Carl's, and Dennis' dad) had produced The Sunrays, but I only remembered "I Live for the Sun." Even though Murray was apparently a real a**hole, he still did a great job with this group, irregardless of the lack of ethics in doing so. Thanks so much for rekindling an old memory!
