I was just listening to the Absolute Beginners soundtrack--I love this song. TSC predated the whole Acid Jazz thing--as usual, Mr. Weller solidly ahead of the curve. I've read so much criticism that just bags on TSC, in favour of the Jam, and his solo efforts, but Weller wrote some amazing songs in this period, and he and Talbot were very talented arrangers. He created a truly sophisticated sound that spoke of Continental/Capri-Riviera high-life of a bygone era coupled with totally current and unabashedly leftie political lyrics. And fashion-wise, he never looked better.

All Weller

Up to 1985, #TheStyleCouncil produced some great tracks and there's many we could easily have selected; A Solid Bond in Your Heart, The Piccadilly Trail, Here's One That Got Away, Spring Summer & Autumn....and so it goes on. Forward to 1986. The distraction of #RedWedge and with TSC enveloped in numerous causes 1986 yielded only 'Have You Ever Had it Blue?'. Not a good year and a turning point in their sound that divided many but led to the start of a decline in their commercial appeal. Love this appearance on Wogan at The Shepherds Bush Empire in April 1986.The Style Council - Have You Ever Had It Blue? (Wogan, 1986)

@bloodnokian Oops!! Typo.... I really should grow more fingers! Thanks for the heads op. As for Dee, it's possible that she was busy undertaking promotional duties for her debut album "Shrine" which was released around six weeks earlier.
