very good - the death of flower power produced some mighty tunes - interesting to reverse the thing of old gospel tunes being turned into soulful love songs, here a hippy rebel tune gets spun into gospel. more recent example being the gospel version of personal jesus - originally electro-pop depeche mode song.

The so-called ‘Flower power’ movement was comprised of the generation that spawned this lyric, as well as a significant proportion of the white kids that vigorously supported civil rights.

With all due respect, Jimmy: "RIP Flower Power"? I can't see how the Staples and whatever you consider "Flower Power" are mutually exclusive. In 1967, we were all pulling in the same direction.

It did get an official release on Colombia but was almost immediately withdrawn because the Staples had signed to Stax
