Today, I am thankful that I can worship freely. Worship can include praying, reading God's Word with an open heart, singing, participating in communion, and serving others. It is not limited to one act, but is done properly when the heart and attitude of the person are in the right place…reserved for God. We are SO fortunate to live in a country in which we can do these things out in the open or in the comforts of our home. I’m grateful that in America, I am not punished for these things. In some countries worshipping our Lord Jesus Christ is punishable in inhumane ways. It’s unimaginable for me to think that I cannot read my Bible, say a prayer before my meal, or pray for someone in public. My relationship with Jesus Christ is the most important to me. I’m thankful that I am able to learn more about Him without restriction. I love music. There are so many songs that I love to worship to. Some songs I can praise God while singing about the wonderful promises. Then there are songs I relate to so much and that can bring me to my knees in awe. Whether the songs are old hymns or new contemporary music, we can familiarize with each because they all talk about the same thing - God. True worship is God-centered worship. Sometimes people get caught up in how they should worship, where to worship, or what songs to worship to. Some focus too much on what others think about them when they are worshipping. That kind of focus is missing the point. True worship is through the spirit and the heart. And true worship is not confined to church or open worship. Worship is to glorify and exalt God - to show our loyalty and admiration to our Father. I’m thankful that I can do so anywhere, anytime, with anyone, and any place. I worry about that all the time.. in fact to much some times. I want to honor God and lift my hands in submission and adornment but I dont want to be "praying in the streets" you know? Its a hard mix. Still, our God deserves anything and everything we have to give Him no matter where we are.
