I love XTC because they represent a kind of missing link between the old and the new. Old enough to have been around when the real shit was going down in the sixties and young enough to be seeking out the new. It's strange how they managed to keep secret their real playing chops at the beginning when "radical" was all the rage. But they stuck it out until they had enough cred to not have to hide just good they could play.

Love it! Can't work out why you're sitting next to Bill Bailey, though...

Never liked the band I'm afraid, (to me - cocky band without real reason behind it) but he really had tone & taste, despite the punchy style of the group. And dear god, these guitars in THIS room sound incredible. I just wonder of the amp. Sound is so good, it looks like Marshall/Fender combination, but...those pedals...his knowledge of that room... joy, really.

FAO Dave Gregory, if you ever read the comments about these videos. I am a uk collector with quite a few similar instruments, YouTube doesn't let me post the url or my email address here, but you can view them by searching for rockbeareguitars. (I use the alias to protect the collection). I'm not an avid XTC fan or a stalker, but I am a like mind. If you ever fancy shooting the breeze about your and my collections, you can reach me through the website. All the best.

I heard that Dave also used 10-52 strings for a while (10s for the unwound/treble side, 12s for the wound/bass side) is that true?
