Since a lot of people weren't around when this song was recorded - "boss hoss" refers to the then-new Ford Mustang, which was released in late 1964 as a 1965 model. "Boss" was a slang word that meant really good; "hoss" because the Mustang is a type of horse. And no, this is not about a motorcycle - if you don't believe that, listen to the lyrics to hear the word "car" used repeatedly.
