How? If you love the band, find someway to give them support. Why not through your money? They need to eat too. A bit of your money means they can write and perform as their sole job. I understand that you are worried about middlemen taking a cut of the money you want to give to them. But taking the music for yourself, for free, will not save music. So sure, pirate if you like, but buy merch, see shows, spread the word or donate somehow. Or the band you love will disappear inch by inch.
