As someone below has already stated, this is the performance from UK BBC2 TV show "Whistle Test" (note: the programme had dropped the "Old Grey" prefix by now) recorded on 3rd April 1985. They also did "First And Last And Always" too.

In this version he's almost pleading "Marian'-in later versions it's more his signature dark angry howl. One of my favorite songs. Would be interesting to know who inspired it. I have a feeling bad breakups and ex's have inspired more great music than we can imagine! I know I wrote some of the darkest shit after my breakups.

Excellent! I can see how the sustain, almost like a cello, developed into one of the key elements in the Mission U.K.'s sound. Nice alternate rhythm guitar style here too. Eldritch sounds so young and fresh on the vocals. Thanks so much for posting.
