How is this in any way reinforcing rape culture? It's merely a tragic story of a woman who got raped. So? People make movies and TV shows of this stuff all the time. Besides, the song isn't about rape at all. It's about how women tend to lean towards the guys they find attractive or "love", the guys who are assholes, rather than the guys who legitimately love them.

To be fair, The Silent Comedy didn't come up with the concept for the video or direct it. I get where people who are offended are coming from, and the director trying to get artsy by making the video non-linear only helps add to the confusion. But after reading the band and director's thoughts on the video, as well that it shares a story with God Neon's video, I'm a little less against this one.

Uh, this is not about promoting rape culture. It is showing a vicious cycle of abuse. The girl wants attention from the bf, so gets drunk & flirts to make him jealous, he gives her attention in the form of abuse and rape. Rinse and repeat. It is a depiction of a disturbingly common cycle in abusive domestic relationships. I'm assuming it's supposed to shed light on domestic violence, rather than promote it.

First of all, I apologize anyone has been uncivil about these kinds of things. No f bombs are necessary in comments, but honestly this band has no idea what they are reinforcing. I know these kinds of things may seem "artsy" to a bunch of white males, but please get to know women who have been raped before you go reinforcing something like this. What a clueless band. Surely they have no idea the repercussions of their actions. Start being the hope for the people rather than restating a state of hopelessness in a video about something that is already so prominent in our culture. This band should go "out of their way" to get to know the lives of women who have been sexually abused. Actually feel their pain.
