Very funny. The only thing they missed was not ending the song on the major 6 chord.

This may really confuse some young people! I think you should put the correct date on it, which I believe was late 70s.

A simple analysis would be that this is what you get when you combine "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and "She Loves You".Very good, that.

When Lorne Michaels offered the Beatles $3,000 to reunite for an SNL appearance, Eric Idle (aka Dirk McQuigley) tried to trick him by bringing on the Rutles but Lorne wasn't fooled tho he did air a Rutles video but didn't pay the $3,000. ☺

Thought I'd have a go at analysing this; the intro is from "Eight Days a Week" and tune from "All My Loving", the "yeahs" are from "She Loves You", while the hand-holding idea comes from "I Want to Hold Your Hand". The first verse is kinda like a different take on "You're Going to Lose That Girl" (this time instead of warning the guy, the singer is actually stealing his girl, also note the bongos), similarly "Now She's Left You" can be seen as a response to "Yesterday". The second verse reminds me of "Do You Want to Know a Secret" (I want to tell you.../Do you want to know...), but also "I'll Get You" (our love was meant to be.../I'll get you in the end) and maybe even (most obviously,) "I Want to Tell You". I can't decide where "...take you far away..." might come from, maybe nowhere. For the "hold my hand and I'll see you home" line, The Beatles themselves would have heard lots of songs that reference to "walking the girl home".Does anybody else think they repeat the refrain twice before the solo in order to stretch the song a little without having to write another verse? I feel it makes the second half of the song a bit repetitive. Love the song though!

Look how innocent they were. This was before Bob Dylan introduced them to tea.
