This one is an incredibly rare 45, and being the slacker that I am, I decided to swipe the label scan from this blog: http://musicmasteroldies.blogspot.com/2009/12/squeaky-vs-black-knight.html however the audio in the video has been in my collection for years - the audio on the blog does sound better, i will admit....either way you have a chance to hear quite a rare song here, it was available for roughly two weeks before it was pulled in favor of the common version of the song, Snoopy Vs. The Red Baron. I guess they were waiting to get the Canadian rights from Charles Schulz but he wouldn't budge until they paid him some money, or something. This one almost never comes up for sale, with the last few documented sales going for BIG bucks....Canadians, check your record collections -- if you have this one, you're sitting on a small fortune! Enjoy.

This is very very interesting. Do you by any chance have the original pressing of "Snoopy for President?"--the one that has a list of all the candidates at the beginning, including Kennedy?

Monte Schulz, son of Charles M., has said that his father didn't know about the song until Monte told him he'd heard it on the radio.

This was made before Snoopy Vs. The Red Baron - because they waiting for permission from Charles Shultz to release the final version we know today.

Mine is in poor condition . Lots of minor sratches and no sleeve. I've had it for 46 years. I might as well hang on to it.

If you really have Squeaky Vs. The Black Knight, it's worth at least $50 in mint condition. If you have Snoopy Vs. The Red Baron, it's worth about $5 in mint condition....

This is so inferior to the Snoopy version.

My mind is reeling over this re-recording. I'm imagining a Canadian beaver piloting a...well, it can't be a doghouse...a beaver dam?...over Europe and shooting down a...black?...Fokker triplane...if it weren't in English, I'd swear it was a Chinese bootleg or something.

Due to copyright problems, Laurie Records had to call the Royal Guardsmen's lead singer, Barry Winslow, back into the studio in 1966 to record a lead vocal with these slightly different lyrics oved the original backing track for release in Canada only. Capitol now owns all the Laurie masters but may not even know the story behind this oddball release. And yes, this version SHOULD be on any Royal Guardsmen "Greatest Hits"-type reissue compilation CD.
