Unfortunetely or not...we can't go back ... but I have enormous joy in listening to my loveable oldies...they were alway as a fishing hook pulling me out whenever I was down and yet to-day listening to those far-far gone years... it still feels my heart with so much happiness...Hope the same goes for ya Mate! Take care and enjoy the present cause it is surely our own present time. Regards from Budapest

Orszaczky-Jackie ... xy ...

@trsfan That's the one. Brian first real guitar. He started with that Harmony Stratotone but replaced it with his Gretsch. His Firebirds were work horses as he could play standard and slide on both. He did not get a good sound on slide with his Vox. He always had an Epiphone for that as evidenced on Ed Sullivan. As for his Vox? Under contract or not that guitar will be forever linked with Brian Jones and no one else. He stood out even more playing that thing. It's still my favorite guitar ever.

@Ovalvox is the Gretsch you refer to the lime green one he used in the early early days? He also used the vox because he was under contract! I think his best sound was from the firebird!

@trsfan I used to own a Vox Phantom and Teardrop (12 string) from the 60's and neither was a high quality axe. I now own a Korg re-issue Vox MK III "Teardrop" that is much better. I think Brian liked it because of its unique look. His Gretsch just had a ballsy deep thick low end sound to it. His Firebirds a nice mid range. Own a Firebird as well. Can't afford a Gretsch though.

@Ovalvox yep yep I agree 100%. That Vox would not hold a tune!!!!

@Ovalvox thank you very much for the information. the early stones' music is still something of a mystery to me, although i've been listening to it for 40 years. Mr. Jones, may he rest in peace, had died by the time i got seriously into their music in the early '70s so i'm sure a lot of his input to the seminal early recordings was downplayed since he was no longer around. they had to move on, i guess. thanks again, and i agree that it gives the song a memorable sound.

@salgoudsamoht It's Brian. I know this because he changes guitars during a live BBC broadcast. Right after the Stones do it's All Over Now. Mick is heard saying "while brian changes guitars." He switched from his Vox to his Gretsch. You can clearly hear the difference. Brian played the same way on Time Is On My Side. And Bill staggers the bass ever so slightly to give it a certain feel I agree.

@Ovalvox arpeggio. playing the notes of a chord in succession, that is, playing each note of a chord individually. as opposed to playing them in unison, such as the sound when one strums a guitar. staccatto, when notes are played that are detached from each other, abruptly separated, such as a fiery blues solo by the late Jimi Hendrix, may he rest in peace. some could say that Mr. Jones' arpeggio playing, if it is him and not Mr. Richards, would be lost if not for Mr. Watts and Mr. Wyman.
