The Rolling Stones - Brown Sugar/Tribute video free download

"Brown Sugar", written and performed by the Rolling Stones on their mega-successful classic 1971 album "Sticky Fingers" is one of my all-time favorite songs. This song was controversial back in the early 70's because of the "sensitive" content in the lyrics. This song does mention slavery and some of the horrible things that happened during that time. It is understandable that some people at first glance could be offended by some of the lyrics, however if you look closer, hopefully you'll see that the Stones don't mean any harm with this song. And they don't exactly paint the "scarred old slaver" in the greatest light by the way either. They portray the slave owners in general in a negative light.

This is the same band that wrote the song "Sympathy For The Devil," don't forget now. That song, as well as this one, prove that they were never afraid to tackle serious and controversial subjects. But at least when they covered sensitive topics, they covered them in an intriguing manner that made you think: "Sympathy" especially did this. And anyone who knows The Stones KNOWS they never were racists. But at times, art deals with subject matter that is not always easy to handle. Only the Rolling Stones would have the guts to write a song like this back when they wrote it, and only The Stones could send a song with lyrics this racy up to #1 on the Billboard Charts.

Okay, so the song and lyrics don't perfectly fit with a full on "tribute" to Black females, however the basic theme of the song is how Mick Jagger (along with many people from all races) just can't get enough of them. The lyrics speak for themselves. Another reason why I incorporated this video to pay respects is simply because how often in our society do you ever see Black women being praised or celebrated? Too rarely, and it has been that way too long which is very unfortunate. These women, along with all women matter of fact, deserve more credit. Therefore, I figured why not do something that actually does celebrate Black women. So here is my tribute video to the song accompanied by various pictures of some of the great and iconic black female singers and actresses who I have admired throughout the years
