This version used the same backing track as the Shirelles' 1961 original. Yes, both groups recorded for Scepter. The backing track includes Carole King playing piano (she and Gerry Goffin wrote the song).

Listening to it again, it sounds a whole lot like the Shirelles' instrumental track. Just out of curiosity, I looked up what record label the Rocky Fellers recorded on, and it turned out to be Scepter - the same label as the Shirelles' version!

The Rocky Fellers recorded two songs written by a not-yet-famous Neil Diamond ("Santa Santa" and "We Got Love"), but Neil himself has never recorded (or at least never released) his own version either of them. The only song I know of that both Neil Diamond and the Rocky Fellers have done is this one, written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King.
