Yeah, that's what happens when you've got a whammy pedal that's not all the way down or up--it can sound really ugly. It's not the guitar, though. It's definitely the pedal, because I've got the same one, and that happens if you leave it in the wrong spot (notice how it gets all better after the bridge--he moved it. Probably couldn't hear himself, though, to know how bad it was.)
