John Felice began in the Modern Lovers (he was some 15 years old); he left the band in january of '72 and formed The Kids. After doing their first show opening for Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers, it came to their attention that there was already another group calling themselves The Kids. Jonathan said "Aw, don't worry.. You guys are the Real Kids".
