The Beach Boys struggled to find a sound in the 70s - Brian Wilson was really messed up and had more fun with "farting synths" than trying very hard to write songs (in the later 70s) - they went so far as doing a terrible disco song - they should have just cranked up the guitars a bit more - Dennis Wilson already drummed like a punk drummer - in fact - in the 70s when he was drunk he would start drumming faster and faster during some songs - so by the end it was up around this tempo - they should have done a split single - Ramones cover the Beach Boys on one side - and Beach Boys do a Ramones song on the other....now that would have been more interesting than their awful disco attempt - surf music has more in common with punk (Dick Dale!) than disco(!)10 years ago
