While "Best Looking Boys" can't be separated that far from current emo songs, it's full aware of how incredibly dumb this genre is. Just as Morrissey was well aware of his humorous morose lyrics, Davey von Bahlen was always well aware of how pathetic and self-obsessed this music can get. Over sharp, jangly rhythms and typical 90s-emo production, The Promise Ring produce the type of summer hit that is best heard typing a journal entry alone in your room.
