What i find really dumb is how people saw that geddy lee is a police wannabe. He isnt. Neil peart, on the other hand, has said that stewart copeland influenced him (listen to signals by rush). In my opinion, geddy is better because of his complex and hard bass lines. Now better drummer... kinda hard. Both stewart and neil are great. To look for the best drummers, look at the jazz drummers... theyre so cool, yet so damn good.

One of their all time greatest tunes IMHO!! holy crap Stewart Copeland can do more with a snare and high hat than most with an entire kit.

Playing melodies is not the problem, but the rhythmical figures are and to sing is a challenge. The figures sound simple but they are not. Something I always liked about the police. They made it sound simple but it was not. Check out "Spirits in the material world" for instance. Geddy Lee is a good bass player and so is Sting - they are both not the best in the world. What I don´t like about Rush is that the music is too predictable.

Neil Peart is good but for sure not the best drummer in world. Stewart Copeland is not the best drummer in the world but for sure my favorite. Check out the Jazz guys - then you´ll find the best drummers in the world. ;-)

Comparatively Rush writes more complex songs, and sure I love The Police, but to think Sting with his bare bones bass lines is better than Geddy Lee playing melodies on bass and keyboard while singing is absurd.

Well said, Eltroim. These two bands have some of the most gifted musicians in the history of prog music. I think The Police and Rush both are gods of music man!!

While i do agree with u in the first part, the 2nd part is well, wrong. They're older than the police and they play prog stuff, AND THEY HAVE NEIL PEART, best drummer in the world(stewart could be in 2nd). i mean, I love the police, i m a sting wannabe but u cant discredit other bands.

Man I don´t get all that Geddy Lee bullshit. Are Rush Police wannabees? Rush is playing a totally different genre and are not as clever in any respect as the police in terms of song writing, arrangement, vocals and overall performance. No hard feelings, but simply not the same league.

no bass player frontman has ever come close to even paralleling the same universe as Geddy Lee...you just can't even get close to it. study up. Stewart Copeland is a drum God.
