I like looking back at appearances like this by the Pointer Sisters - I've always felt they truly had music in their souls, and that the record label just never really knew HOW to effectively promote them. But I was always happy to see them achieve mainstream success as I felt it was truly deserved.

@thisisittt, I agree with you. Still, I think the record company didn't do a good job with the album. It could have done better. "Dare Me" stalled at # 11 on the Hot 100, but it did great on the R&B and dance charts, proving that there was an audience for that song. "Freedom" is one of the most beautiful PS recordings ever, and although it was an unlikely single, it could have done better. RCA ruined the careers of many soul/R&B artists in the mid-80s - just think of Diana Ross, for instance...

@leonbrain68, that is an interesting opinion. Personnally, I don't think there were any really obvious singles on "Contact". "Back in my arms" and "Freedom" are AMAZING songs, but I was surprised when they released them as singles. I thought "Dare me" would do better than it did. The verses were perhaps a little too uneventful to really grab the listener's attention, but the chorus is vintage Pointer Sisters all the way. I really love this album. It's nice to hear a live version of "Hey you".

Love these women...you know, their record label did them no favors releasing Dare Me. That song was so 'Break Out'; they should have released some of the other songs on the album as they sound NOTHING like Break Out. I still feel that if Back in My Arms had been released as the lead single they would have had yet another top 10, maybe even a number one song!
