The Philosopher Kings - "The New Messiah" video free download

Once again, sorry about the lip sync, but YouTube isn't good with that once it's been translated.

This song has some of my favourite lyrics ever in it. I was shooting a very low-budget TV spot for the release of this album and I had only enough film and time left at the end for one performance pass of the actual song, which wasn't planned.

The concept was to have this powerful Mafia-type guy whose woman was his only weakness. The video was set up on a simple set with the band remaining posed as if sitting for a portrait of la famiglia. You have the blue-suited fast talker, the loose-cannon henchman (standing next to the chair), the brainy mastermind capodecina in the back, the playboy at far right, and, of course, the don figure singing.

The video consists of an extremely slow dolly-in as the song progresses, ending on the intensity of our Godfather character. Very, very simple, but I quite liked how the "family portrait" turned-out, as rudimentary as it is.
