actually, John Lee Hooker and likes have a style very much their own, like Tom Waits. yes there are basics, and everyone uses them, but I'm talking about the distinctive things that make the artist unique. and the Pretzelmen are not borrowing basics, but unique solutions, already used. but everyone has there own opinions..

i would have to disagree the pretzelmen obviously are strongly influenced by him, but there just similar enough to say that they are a rip off a lot of blues artist sound similar but nobody is claiming that they are stealing john lee hookers style but everyone has there own opinions

Either this comment didn't come out the way you've wanted it, or you just don't know nothing about Waits' music. And in 7 months time this music still sounds like a rip-off of a feeling.

This music sounds nothing like Tom Waits. Definitely influences drawn, but the choice of instruments and general sound are consistent throughout most of the Peculiar Pretzelmen's songs, while with Tom, it's always a crapshoot. He might have songs that sound like this, he might have songs that are tender ballads from a bygone era.

mashing styles to create a new sound is one thing (Tom Waits), and stealing a style (this music) is another. just because you dont know your way under the sun does not mean there's nothing new happening.
