The people who hate this either have no soul, or have lived life.Without tormented people like Shane McGowan, Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison etc we would have missed out on so much brilliance....not just in music but also other arts

What a beautiful song and everything about it, if your not Irish you just would not understand ...rest peacefully Tommy, Clancy Brothers and may Shane keep doing his fucking thing,

First time I have heard this song,I think bob dylan must have took inspiration from this for his song restless farewell

Awful. I think you need your teeth to sing properly. I love Shane, but he does not do this song justice.

There are many definitions of the term beautiful - to me, this is beautiful. Shane has his demons but sings from the soul. Hear so many "technical" singers who can insert all the frills and trills but who sound far sterile because the focus is on the form not the song

I believe Shanes drink and drugs habit moulded him into the singer he was, love him or hate Im proud to call him a fellow Irishman

One of the very best, drunk or sober.

Ripping into Shane for being drunk is futile. This is Shane take him or leave him, even hes old, wasted and worn out ( severe alcoholism and a junk habit will do that to a man). He may not sing well but he sings from the heart and thats way fucking more than most people can be given credit for. i'll always raise a glass to Shane and enjoy his music no matter what state he is in.

This song was written for the blessed Shane MacGowan. Grand indeed....

Sad, can I also add pathetic. I wonder why anyone can listen to this, why did the backing musicians tolerate it? Total trashing of a good song. Stay at home if you are that drunk, dont pretend that you can be funny because you might have been famous. This is so bad that words cannot describe. I will hold my patience now. If you can add any reason why this is good I will listen but you will not convince me; you can try but you will not convince me.
