LYRICS:

Of all the money that e'er I had

I've spent it in good company

And all the harm that e'er I've done

Alas it was to none but me

And all I've done for want of wit

To memory now I can't recall

So fill to me the parting glass

Good night and joy be with you all

Of all the comrades that e'er I had

They are sorry for my going away

And all the sweethearts that e'er I had

They would wish me one more day to stay

But since it falls unto my lot

That I should rise and you should not

I'll gently rise and I'll softly call

Good night and joy be with you all

A man may drink and not be drunk

A man may fight and not be slain

A man may court a pretty girl

And perhaps be welcomed back again

But since it has so ought to be

By a time to rise and a time to fall

Come fill to me the parting glass

Good night and joy be with you all

Good night and joy be with you all

Thank you very much! A heroine hummed, and this song became famous for a Japanese TV drama. By the scene by which a heroine tries to face the death. She's Ellie who has married Japan from Scotland before nearly 100 years. I was a charming lady very rich in the courage and quick wit. Thank you.

Just got divorced from my wife of 2 years. I am enjoying a glass of the wine we were to drink on our 15th anniversary, and this song has given me more comfort than the wine itself.

very laboured version of this song, weak vocals in most of it. Fine, if you like it but I don't

Okay, first of all, complainers, he made a cover. Covers can be different from the original, he just happened to change te origina to fit his particular style. Yeah, it's a folk song, but what's the problem with him singing it? Just because he's a pop star, he can't sing folk songs? Secondly, he introduced me to this song, and other Irish folk songs, and now I love them (even though I love this song most because this is to my opinon still a lovely song). Pop singers bringing back old songs isn't the problem you make it out to be.

This motherfucker ed sheeran has just bastardised a beautiful song. Whenever he rights his own songs they have as much meaning and thought put into them as fucking concrete shit hole.

The last six lines pissed me off, the rest was decent.
