I feel lucky I got to see them before Harvey Dalton Arnold joined with Henry Paul singing lead. Henry Paul was a decent rhythm guitar player ( Hughie was an amazing lead and Billy Jones could step right in and not get shamed which says a lot). That said Henry Paul was a fine singer in the original The Outlaws and while I like Harvey fine I've got to defer to Henry Paul singing it as the band's definitive version. I do credit HDA for keeping much of the original fire burning for the band's third album "Hurry Sundown" because while it wasn't as good overall as the first two, they were amazing, it was a very good album in it's own right.

Probably going to stir up some hornet's nest shit worse than cattle rustlin' on here. But here goes: Henry Paul couldn't even carry Hughie's guitar case as far as I'm concerned. Billy Jones' either. Have you seen Paul in concert or on here with his "New Outlaws" since Hughie died? Second rate band. I said it here! What that conniving cut-throat vulture Paul did to Hughie and his widow Mary was unthinkable. I'll save that tirade for another day !!! RIP Hughie,Billy & Frank O'Keefe.

No making those guitar player faces, no overstated gimmicks, just pure guitar playing with emotion. You can't tell me when you hear those twin leads it sends chills down your spine!! Just a note to the dude who said he heard this song was written by Paul Revere and the Raiders he needs to go back and check Jimmie Rodgers who performed this song and I believe wrote it as well back in the thirties. It is well known in bluegrass circles. A great rendition is done by Tony Rice. Long live the Outlaws!!! They did introduce bluegrass through electric guitars to the world!!

i can't remember the name of the of the bar, but it was some hole in the wall place in Tampa,Fl. this was around 1986-89 memory is i a little fuzzy from those days, but Billy Jones had this no name band he use to jam with after leaving the Outlaws (i have my idea on why he left). it was so cool to be standing right next to such an amazing guitar player. watching him play the old Outlaws classics. miss you Billy & Hughie.

This is what it looked like when I saw them. My 1st concert and one of the best I've ever seen. I was at the show broadcast from Nassau Colleseum on King Biscuit Flour Hour.
