Fantastic sound. Their melodies and sound have such a fun and heart-warming resonance for me. Music of the heavens. I'm sure John's creativity in the next dimension must be acting in a magical cohesion with the frequency and rhythm of the Great Spirit. Peace

i remember meeting these guys in a small record store in Colorado Springs in 1986. They were so sweet & down to Earth as each one of them signed my cassette cover. I had tickets to see them with the Starship, Awsome concert. I know John Spinks' spirit is smiling when I play his music. Rest in Peace, I'll see you again someday.

11 sonic reasons to love this song:1) The swelling keyboard pads and clean guitar tone intro mixed with the “dancing heartbeat” percussion is gorgeous.2) 0:20 the drums and bass join in, and only sustained guitar notes (arpeggiated from a chord) are played, no full guitar chords yet. He awaits the arrival of the full verse to get there first.3) 0:34 the verse guitars are comprised of 2 guitars with the same tone, but playing different parts, and panned in opposite ears. The left ear contains more of the driving chords, and the right ear parts are more syncopated. Brilliant, even by todays standards of production.4) Tony Lewis' voice (all over the place). Insanely amazing!!!5) 0:50 The splash of clean guitars panned dead center come in only for an instant after “looking for a good time”. This sort of fill gets changed to synth at the :57 mark. Character.6) 1:06 Chorus continues the verse guitar idea, but it's hidden beneath the added synth, and heavy vocal arrangements, which are nothing short of brilliant. Tony and John's vox mesh well together (a lot like Jerry and Layne of Alice In Chains).7) 1:20 the second verse hits equally as hard as the first, continuing with the panned guitars of course. This time the first fill at 1:28 (and again at 1:42) is a vocal fill by Tony as opposed to a synth or guitar part. Sweet. Constantly keeping it interesting. The fill at 1:35 goes back to that silky smooth guitar tone that was introduced in the very first verse fill.8) 1:44 The manner in which Tony sings “DON'T close YOUR eyes there just might beeee another WAAAAY” is simply amazing and brilliant. The long vibrato on the held note on “way” sends shivers down my spine, every time I hear it.9) 2:22 the bent notes comprised of pinch or artificial harmonics on the guitar solo entry are very uncommon in pop music. This is a very simple solo yet I want to dance to it (and I can't dance). He ends this solo with the strumming of a high chord, and instead of sliding it up or down, he simply cuts it off... Quite powerful.10) 2:39 The Bridge. The guitars here also continue the different guitar part in each ear, with a cleaner tone, quieter, and heavier palm mute. But this is an intimate moment with Tony Lewis! He's whispering the details of the night's events. He opens up a bit more at 2:57, almost rejoicing, knowing that this bed time party he just had (apparently more than once with this partner as he says “so good to be with you - again”) will be one to remember, FOREVER!11) 3:07 The drum fill goes to a half time feel at the end of it. Actually adding energy to the moment. These guys did stuff like this on every song and every album in the 80s and made it look and sound easy (at least their first 3 albums). So underrated. They are huge in my book. Big part of growing up!
