yeah, american idiot was created in a similar fasion, with little strands of guitar lines followed by some words and this order usually sounds goodthat aside, the guitars sound little alike, and the only difference is the use of power chords, which is a similarity among most offspring and green day songs, so... eh, theyre kinda similar i guess...
