This here is from Biggie's demo tape before his 1st album, Ready To Die. I personally think that they should of stuck with the original Juicy version with Pete Rock on the track instead of Puffy. Enjoy!

Yeah agree...Puffy simply beatjacked the original mtume song...Puffy did a lot of copycatting in his career.

Why are people upset at Puffy for "stealing" the melody from Pete Rock, when Pete Rock has done the same to other producers?

Nice remix, but Puffy's version is much better. It carries a much warmer feeling that makes Juicy so memorable.

How cool would it of been if puffy got shot instead of big?

This is ill but it's too street flavored. The point of those light and airy drums is how distant they are from the streets Biggie came from. Plus they give Biggie's bars more room.

Pete made the beat, you can hear his drums... Puffy stole his whole idea he couldn't even find the drums to it, so he took the hole sample... what a fucker puffy was and still is... it wasn't the first time, Q-Tip was one time at pete's crib too when he showed him the We got the jazz beat, so he took the idea but gave him props at the end of the track

when he says "blow up like the world trade"....you have to realize that he is referring to the 1993 bombing of the world trade center. Biggie is not a fortune teller

What does that change? I'd believe that became this version. The infamous version was as I stated produced by the Trackmasters and had sampled the drums from Mtume's Juicy Fruit. This version only samples the melody. I guess Puff heard Pete's version but asked the Trackmasters to funk it up with the orignal drums from Juicy Fruit.

There's an interview with Pete Rock where he talks about how Big and Puff came to his house and he played them the beat and then like two months later juicy comes on the radio.

When this song was recorded the Mtume song was barely 10 years old, at that time it was considered tasteless to sample something so current.

its bullshit that pete rocks name isnt credited as a producer on the album track listing, puffy basically stole his beat

Trackmasters produced the single and they dont know how Pete got included into this "beef" (maybe Puff wanted Pete to do the song, but didnt like this version).

This still better than hearing puffy say "yeah, nigga" the whole song

When you hear the whole track you will see that puffy stole everything pete started with the sample puff too, then the drums and later the hook
