The most powerful synthesizer on the planet just became more powerful. The beautifully redesigned new Kronos features an expanded SGX-2 piano engine, adding a gorgeous 9GB Berlin grand with dedicated una corda (soft pedal) samples, plus sympathetic string resonance that also works with the revered Kronos German, Japanese, and optional Austrian grand pianos. An improved Set List mode offers users the capability to color-code Set List slots, and resize their custom text either onscreen or via an external USB keyboard. Hundreds of new sounds are easily identified by famous song titles. All sounds are now searchable by title, and they are all powered by an unparalleled nine distinct synth engines:

SGX-2 Premium Piano

EP-1 MDS Electric Piano

CX-3 Tonewheel Organ

HD-1 High Definition PCM Synthesizer

MS-20EX & PolySixEX Legacy Analog Modeling

AL-1 High-Fidelity Analog Modeling

MOD-7 Waveshaping VPM Synthesizer

STR-1 Plucked Strings Physical Modeling

Add one-cable USB DAW integration for MIDI and Audio, system-wide Touch/Drag via Kronos’ huge color TouchView™ screen, powerful effects processing with up to 16 effects at a time, a 16 MIDI/16 Audio track sequencer, 16-part Combinations, a tremendous assortment of real time controllers, legendary KARMA phrase generating technology, vector control, and a brand new look featuring real wood end caps, and you have an unrivaled instrument for production and performance today, tomorrow, and beyond.

It’s Kronos. Evolved.

pianos are better on the new version but you guys at korg really have some competition as to Guitar emulation all the guitars ive tried seem to be lacking realism on the pluck and sustain overtones that the new Jupiter 80 and Yamaha montage synths seemed to have captured a lot better.come on guys you can do better than this

ATTENTION: Rich FormidoniKorg, you guys should really consider a light 88 key compact version of the kronos. Set list. Touch screen. Ssd. But lightweight under 35 pounds. A majority of keyboard players, frequently giggin musicians, the ones that actually own their keyboard.. (Not backline).. Dont like carrying 75 pound keyboard cases to gigs. But still want the full features of the kronos and want the same sound banks and capabilities. Just an idea, if you did a lightweight version with kronos features and 88 keys. It could wipe out the nord factory and keyboard players wouldnt have any gripes buying a full size keyboard.

I want to buy the kronos but dont like the wood panels, i wish they had an option of choice of style if you want the regular panels or the new wood panel, thats just my opinion.

I just do not see the need to upgrade my Kronos X for this personally but I am sure there are a lot who are going to enjoy this new design.

Oh yes, very informative. What have I learned? That Korg is good, that Kronos is good, that it sounds good, that the people there like it. Oh, and it's good. Very strong arguments indeed.

its impossible to lift this thing alone. you have to rent a bodybuilder for ever gig lol.

What the heck is up with the australian server used for trying to download the new kronos software pack? 45k/sec is impossible to download it? Had my machine on for 3 days straight and it disconnects after 12+ hours or right away. Took over 6 hours to pull down just 1 gig? Kork what were you thinking?

I still like the triton extreme, sorry. If I really want sounds seriously an 88 key controller with a laptop full of ram and softsynth is the way to go. Its just too expensive. Make it structurally like an oasys with pads similar to an akai mpc or colored lighted pads similar to a fantom g, now were talking killer and listen to users when they make suggestions on upgrades and you're winning all around. A good feel on it is everything. Older Dx7 users understand me. Yeah...,

I'm very happy that there is a new Kronos simply because it got me a nice discount on a Kronos X yesterday. However, I feel that there needs to be a national ban on putting woodgrain on electronics, cars, or any other type of advanced equipment. Wooden/metal furniture, sure. But even for speakers, it looks terrible. This isn't 1993! A modern instrument shouldn't look like the dashboard of my grandpa's 1990s Lexus sedan. Also, did the designer of this wear shiny brown shoes with his black dress pants? Tasteless...

No drum pads again. I will stick with the M3 until Korg release's one with them.

My two cents

Is there still a two minute load up time and a horrible resistive touchscreen? And dedicated controls for each engine?
