This song goes out to all those who ever lost at love and still carried the torch many years after ... especially to those who remain tortured by the dream of what could have been, should have been, but was somehow mysteriously prevented from happening. The New Colony Six's "Things I'd Like To Say," in my opinion, was years ahead of most other pop rock love songs of the late 1960's. The resolute sadness of this melody prevails, despite the uplifting string variation suggesting there is still hope for the broken couple, only to return to a somber reality and the distinctive and haunting piano ending which sets it apart as one of the best love songs of all time.

Today my little granddaughter was restless waiting for her mommy to get home. I showed her this beautiful video and she sat mesmerized.

When I first heard this song I was 12 yrs. old in 1968/69 and my friends and I loved this group and the other song "I will always think about you" at least we had cool music during that time. I am so glad I grew up during the 60's though my parents are gone. I always think "where did the time go?" Make the best of it............

I have the album with this song. Bought it sealed, but couldn't resist opening it and hearing it right off the record. One of my prized possessions!

It came on the radio (XM) yesterday. I could sing along "Sometime love hurts and sometimes love's unkind, and sometimes you might feel blue but remember now Baby if his words are real this will never, never happen to you." How many years has it been since I first heard this song. 40? I was 14 when it came out, really just about the time of my first crush with all its power. What a generous way to lose a love.
