"Falling out of touch with all my

friends are somewhere getting wasted,

hope they're staying glued together,

I have arms for them.

Take another sip of them,

it floats around and takes me over

like a little drop of ink in a glass of water

Get inside their clothes

with my green gloves

watch their videos, in their chairs.

Get inside their beds

with my green gloves

Get inside their heads, love their loves.

Cinderella through the room

I glide and swan cause I'm the best slow dancer

in the universe

Falling out of touch with all my

friends are somewhere getting wasted,

hope they're staying glued together,

I have arms for them.

Get inside their clothes

with my green gloves

watch their videos, in their chairs.

Get inside their beds

with my green gloves

Get inside their heads, love their loves.

Now I hardly know them

and I'll take my time

I'll carry them over, and I'll make them mine.

Get inside their clothes

with my green gloves

watch their videos, in their chairs.

Get inside their beds

with my green gloves

Get inside their heads, love their loves."

It was hard to take that song and guide it away from being a stalker song or about somebody breaking and entering or somebody violating someone’s personal space. It’s more about trying to remember someone and sort of be them—someone that you’ve lost your connection with (maybe because of a death)—so you reconnect with them by getting inside their clothes, watching their videos, getting in their bed. You’re actually recreating them somehow in order to know them better. You miss them so much you have to become them. If there’s someone you absolutely miss, you might find yourself talking to them a lot in your mind, creating those fake conversations with them and you answer yourself in their voice in your head. Maybe it’s a girlfriend who dumped you or you know someone who died or that sort of thing, you adopt their personality or the memory of who they were as a means of staying close to them. People talk about spirit, but I have this idea that when we die, we’re gone. All that lives on is our memory and how we affected people, the way we changed people throughout our life. Whether you’ve had a good effect of a bad effect on people, that’s your afterlife—the people who live on after you."Matt Berninger in an interview with Paste Magazine.

I've listened to this song since I was in 4th grade and every year it gets more relevant, being grade 11 now

I was mesmerized by the lyrics and had to look into them. It's a song about a guy breaking in to the apartments of his casual acquaintances while they're away and going through their stuff with green surgical gloves on. Such beauty and depravity combined. Artless and sublime.

green gloves obviously refers to the idea of green loves.  interpretation = early friendships and loves of the past.

For the picture at the end of the song, I'm trying to figure out whether or not he's holding something or if he just has a massive finger. Either way, a great song.
