Why is there a Beatles vs Monkees debate even going on at this point? I love both bands dearly. Sure they were totally different musically, but again it doesn't really matter. Both bands made me smile and I enjoy listening to their music immensely even today. That being said, I have a soft spot for The Monkees because I became a fan of theirs first back in 1986.

The Monkees were very talented Musically and were able to produce great songs with the help of Peter Tork, Michael Nesmith and Chip Douglas. Unfortunately, too many idiots do not know the accurate history and listen to what the stupid Media has to say. Read the facts and the History folks!! Michael and Peter were both talented musicians Davy Jones was actually a better drummer than Micky, and Micky was able to hold his own on classical and acoustic Guitar. The Beatles and John Lennon respected the Monkees and even had a celebration party in their Honor!!!

If someone prefers The Monkees to The Beatles that's fine, that's their opinion. I used to be a Beatles > Monkees snob myself, I'm ashamed to admit. If I was around in the 60's I would probably switch to liking The Monkees better myself once The Beatles weren't "cute" anymore, because I just like cute guys and cute music, ok?
