The lyrics are synched too late to sing along. You should have them fade in just before the line of lyrics, not after. Kinda defeats the purpose.

Ok, listened to it again with the mindset of an adult... I can hear the trappings of wanting more & more possessions & the complexities of personalities who share a neighborhood ... And wanting to start fresh..change of scenery ...But, would still take the fuzzy childhood memories/meaning...

I don't know... I love this song... I can infuse my own childhood images with the ones in the song & it feel like NJ in the late 60s... Late Sunday afternoons, some dad's cutting lawns, others starting the barbecues .... running through sprinklers, neighbors getting together.. GR8 song

People say the Monkees had no depth but listen to the words in this song. it's as stinging a review of the 1960s If you want to keep up with the Joneses in this neighborhood, you will have to own at least three cars. And the weekend Squire who measures his law to get it the perfect even height

One of my favorites from The Monkees. I like the reference to "Mother's Little Helper" by The Rolling Stones, too.

Always loved this song, one of the Monkees best, and another great tribute to Carole Kings talent.
