Versatile too. He can sing just about anything -- jazz, hard rock, country. I LOVE that when Goin Down was featured on Breaking Bad last summer, a whole new group of people discovered the talent of Micky Dolenz and the Monkees.

I so agree. Now that I've been listening to some later tracks, I can hear shades of other groups in the songs they wrote or chose on their own. As much as I loved the early swamp guitar sound of the Boyce and Hart numbers, the songs would have become monotonous had they continued. Same with the more bubble gum stuff that Kirshner was picking for Davy.

the monkees all had different tastes in music. tork: folk rock nesmith: country jones: show tunes dolenz: rock n roll but their clashing music tastes made their music so unique and amazing, and in fact, i feel their differences made them work all the more well together :)
