Firstly, I love The Monkees...but...this song sounds like 'Dusty Springfield' is singing it in places...Mickey has an amazingly high voice for a bloke, great song though :-)

You could easily add at least a dozen Monkee songs (without "Believer" in the title) to classic rock stations and people would be shazaming them or calling up and asking who that was. And their catalog of what didn't even make the original albums is strong.The Monkees got a little modern exposure from Mad Men and Breaking Bad. Both tv shows effectively played "Porpoise Song" and "Goin' Down" respectively.

One of the greatest songs of the late sixties. I really wish mainstream radio would discover the greatness of this group; instead of the two or three songs that they play. Quite a catalog of undiscovered gems.

I know that I'm probably one of the few remaining Monkees' fan still around, but IMHO, one of the very best double-sided hits from a far-removed era is this very underrated "B" side of the "hit" side, "Porpoise Song", both from their also underrated film, "Head."
