Once upon a once in a while

It's hard to remember to smile

Just like all of your toys

Can't you see I don't wanna play

I don't need it

Can't you say you want me to stay

I'd believe it

Just like all of your toys

CHORUS:

When all of your play things

Someday disappear

Girl, will you be happyWith

nothing but tears?

With nothing but tears?

Once upon a once in a while

It's hard to remember to smile,

Just like all of your toys

Don't you ever feel kind of sad?

'Cause you're lonely

Think about the love that we had

Are you lonely?

Just like all of your toys

CHORUS

Ah...

Just like all of your

toys, I don't wanna be

Just like all of your toys,

I don't need to be

Just like all of your, just

like all of your toys...

I should have known I'd be alone

No, no, no I don't need it

Oh, don't you have me believe it

Just like all of your toys

This is such a great song. Especially the backing vocals with Papa Nez and Peter Tork singing together...their voices just went so well in harmony. It's time for these guys to get into the Hall of Fame.

This song is a gem, another great vocal by Dolenz. No it's not in the same league as what the Beatles were doing in 1966-67 but they certainly put out a quality album with Headquarters.

Which band is better, the Monkees or the Beatles? Answer: The one you like better. Stop arguing.

Beatles>>>>Monkees, that's obvious. But that was NOT your original premise. You wrote hyperbolic "facts" that just weren't true, so I called ya on 'em. You should've written "MOST of the Monkees hits were written by others" and "MOST of the Beatles' hits were written by Mac/Len" but ya didn't. To say that any decent band was worse than the Beatles "on their worst day" is tough to back up. The Beatles at their best were the best of all time, but not everything they wrote was gold. That's my point

So lets get this straight, you can point two hits the Beatles didn't write and two the Monkees did? THAT is your argument? Come on dude, get real here, go look it all up, the Beatles had two of the greatest song writers of all time, can you truly say that about any Monkee? Of course not, that dog just ain't gonna hunt. No offense but this feels like some kind of joke, the Beatles had 27 number one hits, how many did they write? The Monkees had how many and how many number 1 hits did they pen?

Again, exaggerating. "The Monkees didn't even write Pleasant Valley Sunday or any hit they ever had" - Mike Nesmith wrote 2 of the Monkees' Top 40 hits ("The Girl I Knew Somewhere" and "Tapioca Tundra"), and a number of their better known album cuts. And Micky wrote "Randy Scouse Git," which peaked at #2 in the UK. "The beatles wrote all their songs." No, their first US hit was "My Bonnie" (not a Beatles composition) & one of their biggest early hits was "Twist & Shout," another cover. FACTS.

Hey I love the Monkees my last name is Kees but I hate the Yankees so go figure. No it's sound logic, the Monkees didn't even write Pleasant Valley Sunday or any hit they ever had,the beatles wrote all their songs including 27 number one hits if I'm not mistaken. The Monkees were a tv show based on Beatlemania and they tried hard to be a real band but they were no Beatles and that is just a cold hard fact. Show me the hits the members of Monkees wrote themselves? Bert wasn't a Monkee last I checked

Well, I'd say that's a bit of an exaggeration, unless you can say, with a straight face, that "Revolution #9" is better than "Pleasant Valley Sunday." Sure, the Beatles were far superior (to just about EVERY band), but let's not pretend they didn't record a few stinkers! I'd even argue that Pieces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones is a better overall album than, say, Beatles For Sale. On the other hand, nothing the Monkees ever recorded can touch the majority of the Fab Four's albums...

Hell I love the Monkees but saying they are more talented or better than the Beatles is just butt ass stupid.

Crackpot theory, the Monkees on their best day weren't better than the Beatles on their worst day, and I love the Monkees.

Gosh I LOVE this song! I love music from the 60's. It makes me sad that I have to listen to songs first, or look for "clean versions" of songs before I can let my kids buy them. Music was soooo much better then!

Was it not Don Kirshner who has the rights to their writing in the beginning?
