With the tragic passing of Ellie Greenwich this week, I received this little treasure courtesy of my friend Sun, an Ellie Greenwich & Jeff Barry rarity from '67 on Atco, It's A Friday Kind Of Monday by The Meantime. Sun says, "I bet they called themselves the Meantime because this was something they were doing in the meantime while trying to figure out what was next for them...having segued nicely from having hits with the Shangri-La's to producing hits for Neil Diamond.

I hope you enjoy this little tribute to her genius for her well-known, and not so known great songs and remember her fondly. Ellie we'll really miss you, not just Friday or Monday, but every day of the week.

Time passes since Ellie left us, but the void is still great -- I will miss her always!

Chris, Sorry, I don't actually own this record. A friend passed the MP3 along to me, and that's all I was able to share with you.

Today is Friday, but it rained so ugly all day that it seemed like a Monday kind of Friday! But at least it was Friday.

I'd heard OF this song and group for many years, but I'd never heard this record until just now. It's super! As you may know, Ellie herself was part of this group. It took me quite a few years after first hearing of the group name to figure out where the name came from. Here's a clue - split the name in half. And think of UTC.
