a feel good song when at the time you had no worries and youth was on your side,we look now and the world has changed so much things seem harder now and we have more to worry about,at the time i was young free and single 30 years later 4 kids responsibilities and memories no regrets but brilliant memories and times of the best decade............sorry to throw a few songs in there(Walker brothers.......i just have to mingle.)

You have to feel sorry for these guys in some respects. What do you do when the first single that you put out is about as close to being the perfect pop song as it's possible to get. Add to that the fact that for most people in Britain who were between 16 - 26 years old in 1983, this was the song that they most associate with those halcyon days of summer. It's not that it reminds us of back then - it's that for a few moments when you hear it you can almost feel like you felt back then. As a band it doesn't mater what you do after this - whether it's god, bad or average - it's inevitably going to pale by comparison.

Instantly brings back memories of summer '83. Karen was pretty fit but she didn't fancy me. Oh well....she got fat anyway.

I was 16/17 loved this tune & my sister knicked it & sold it at her youth club she went to. She thinks I am odd because I still mention it. But then, when cash was limited, I saved up my paper round money & bought it for myself.Never been any apology - she just laughs & tells me to get over it. But at the time, before VH1 & MTV (in our house) music was dead important, everything I had was played on my record player after work - and it was me building up my record collection.Means a lot to me this tune. I will never get tired of listening to it.Thank you for posting.
