He presses the play button then.

He is using 5 DSP (CMIIW) ...... so it will handle many plugins .

He will be using a Grapic EQ, but having the ability to eq that channels in compressor allows him to be SUPER precise and not compress the nasty Freqs

He is using the digiLive console. I just do not care for that board! If I had to use that board and nothing else was avail, I would move to cancel a show! They just dont sound good, the lows are dull and pasty and the mid are clouded and the highs are just terrible! I can always pick that console out the instant I get close enough to the arena to hear the show! Using waves in concert awesome concept! But give me an Midas or Soundcraft or DigiCO

why not just use a graphic eq instead of a compressor

its not a software its the whole digital console called the venue "profile" made by digidesign now owned by avid. this console allows you to plug in your "ilok" key and what ever plugin you own in pro tools you can bring it to the live world.

The iPod could be in between set music, or for system calibrations. He did say he tries to replicate the album sounds at the live shows, so perhaps he uses the album as reference during set-up, for accuracy purposes.
