I was at this show.. For some reason, even when their popularity waned in the early 70's, they would still sell out shows in Rhode Island. They showed their appreciation for their loyalty by recording their live album here.

So funny that ray Davies is singing a song which is praising British Colonialism to an American audience. Could have been worse...Imagine a world dominated by the French LOL

Great video. Such an under rated group. Right up there with the Stones and Beatles

On this day in 1840 {February 10th} Victoria, the Queen of England, married Prince Albert of Saxe Coburg-Gotha {they were married for 21 years until Albert's death in December of 1861}...One hundred-thirty years later on October 25th, 1970 the record "Victoria" by the Kinks entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #97; eventually it peaked at #62 and spent 9 weeks on the Top 100...It reached #33 on the United Kingdom's Singles chart...Was track one of side one from the group's seventh studio album, 'Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire)'...R.I.P Pete Quaife, the group's original bassist, {1943 - 2010}...

The greatest live rock 'n roll band in history, IMO.Ray had an ability to connect with an audience of any size and make them think they were seeing the band in a bar that holds 200.
