This IS the Golden Age of the Kinks, in my opinion. Their '60s stuff was excellent, but I don't do wistful, angst-ridden songs very well. The later stuff had a cynical, hard edge to it toward which Dead End Street only hinted. The critics can go pound sand - I never based my tastes on what someone else thought, because quite frankly what most people think is bloody useless.12 years ago

@lgbpop I like the 80's Kinks material. But I also understand that critics have to criticize. While the songs you mentioned are really good, especially Living On A Thin Line, they don't truly compare to the Golden Age of The Kinks. I always liked when critics would give The Kinks a bad review by saying these albums were ok Kinks albums, but if they were done by someone else they would have been fantastic. The Kinks outdid themselves and were penalized because they were good.13 years ago
