I just cant understand all these pathetic Green Day fans trying to make up all kinds of childish excuses for their heroes ripping off other bands music. If they cant come up with new material of their own they should get out of the music business and open a café somewhere . Green Day fans just accept the fact that it was nicked from the kinks.

I love this song, it is great! But come on folks -- using the circle of fifths (E-A-D-G) in a song, or a simple riff of three notes per chord, isn't "theft." The Green Day song doesn't even use the same 4 chords, or the same riff!

The guitar riff is quite similar to Green Day's "Warning", but I wouldn't go as far to say it was an outright steal from the Kinks. The Green Day boys are clear Kinks fans and have lifted elements of plenty of songs from their idols, but there's far worse injustices in the music industry...
