This album was my introduction to The Kinks. (I was a 2nd generation fan). I had it on cassette and it stay in my tape deck nearly the entire summer of 1980. Thanks for the memories.

Yes, 'The Hard Way' pretty much is the 'Can't Explain' riff. Pete Townsend said he deliberately copied the Kinks trademark guitar sound for The Who's first big hit. Ray Davies is just stealing his band's style back.

I got thrown out of the show in 1980 at the Spectrum in philly for smoking a cigarette (new ban back then-SHOCKER!) i negotiated around the building and pleaded to get back in, only to do so when a guy, really high, the show itself was one of he attacked a horse cop, and I slipped back in... as this song montage started i darted back to my seat, passing the guy that threw me out- he only rolled his eyes... the show itself was one of the best i ever saw! i love the kinks!
