I guess the reason I like Rays and the Kinks music is because I was born in the UK and now live in Australia so have some nostalgia which is what they are about having intelligent Lyrics that are making a point about the past and the current times

au debut de tous leur Hits les Kinks etaient considérés en France comme un groupe pour Teenagers , un peu comme Procol Harum , ensuite on a decouvert le talent de RayDavis, comparable aux Beatles , Who !!!

Arthur is definitely the Kinks' finest album; in fact, Arthur is one of those few albums that is truly flawless.

The one shame about The Kinks is how few Americans understand/appreciate the music. I suppose it's because it's almost exclusively influenced by British culture. This song is a good example. When I played it for a couple friends (who 'love' the Beatles, Beach Boys, Stones, etc.) they just couldn't really 'get it'. The Kinks are a wonderful group tho and the entire Arthur album is one of my favorites, despite my American Midwest upbringing!

You're obviously NOT from Australia. Because there, nobody's got a chip on their shoulder...

No one hesitates in life or beats around the bush in Australia. Everyone walks around with a perpetual smile across their face.

Ray is a genius. Dave is an autistic genius. This is one of the greatest guitar solos ever recorded. Those are facts.

This is how I see it, The Kinks came first, then XTC, and then Blur. Around "Parklife" and "The Great Escape", The Kinks and XTC were Blur's biggest influences and you can really hear it.

this song is from the album,"Arthur",and the song is in reference to their Sister and Brother in Law(Arthur)considering, and eventually moving Down Under.the album is a concept album, the first "rock opera" to some extent.don't forget that back in the day,Australia was part of the British Empire, beginning as a penal colony and trading locale.oh,and the eradication of the indigent peoples(Aborigines).

There's some good jamming to be found in this tune as well as Davies' usual lyrical brilliance. Thanks for the upload.

if someone doesn't like the Kinks then that's their problem, but that is no reason to hate that person, or anything they might stand for, since negative thoughts and ideas, prevent us from being free.
