Did the lyrics that say "Those golden faces are under twenty-five" cause The Jam to split in 1982? Weller was twenty-four in 82.

I grew up listening to The Jam. Loved the music and had a serious crush on Paul Weller. He's now a man, his music has changed, I have loved all his music, Style Council and his solo stuff. Favourite Jam song....funny enough In the City or the Bitterest Pill, Style Council It didn't matter or You're the Best Thing.........solo Above the Clouds

What I meant was that nothing has been better than Sound Affects 'm not saying his solo stuff is bad just not as good as The Jam great albums.

yep.. from one of the greatest bands there ever was to one of the most horrid. i still cant wrap my head around what could motivate him to start the style council.

He changed because there was no money in pop punk bands. They were a dime a dozen later on, he had to stay relevant with the times.

@Marv Gordonski he changed his musical direction, and devloped as a result, but i think if you listen to some of his later stuff its evident that he does still have 'balls'. changin man for instance?

strange how no one has mentioned Bruce Foxton, What an amazing Bass player, just as much of an icon as Weller

F.Y.I. I like and own all of the jams albums. The Style Council and his other stuff is probably written for 10 -14 year old girls to purchase on I tunes. (which is the demographic that actually buys music these days) Have you actually listened to the new Weller/ Foxton collaboration it's horrible. To each his own, mate.

No. Thats completely wrong, just because you're stuck in your own world where you only like 10 songs, doesn't mean that he should lessen his musical knowledge and keep his genres closed, just to please you, his musical knowledge is massive, you might not like his new music, but i guarantee its not 'wussy' music just because you dont like it.
