I have and do, they are not a classic Boston band in my opinion. they do not match up to the j. giels band, or aerosmith, or the cars or boston for that matter...but they do get a definite not bad...

John Geils was the guitarist but left the band some time ago. The band continued to be call the J Geils band however.

@thebaddog410: Raised in metro Detroit and still live here. J Geils Band might well be from Detroit. I know they are Boston's own but I've been to a lot of live shows over the decades in this area and none are more electric feeling fan wise as a J Geils Band show here in the Motor City. This area effing loves those boys. Last time I saw them them was at the State Theatre I believe in Detroit a few years back and it felt like the early 80s or a 70s J Geils show. Fans were going nuts.
