We're waiting Capistrano swallows right now, in Argentina. They mostly settle in a small city, Goya, province of Corrientes, some 500 miles NE from Buenos Aires. I think people over there celebrates their arrival with some sort of local festival. Nice.

Reading carefully between the lines, I believe this song is actually a gentle "put-down" song. The singer and his girl have broken up, and the girl, not wanting to hurt him anymore than she already has, flippantly tells him that she will come back to him "When the Swallows....". The singer then fantasizes about what will happen next. The song's ending leaves it up to us whether or not she really did return that day.
