Wow. This is extremely dark for Disney; you see them as makers of happy, upbeat films. This movie was not an example of that. And considering the sickening atmosphere this song provides, Disney will never be the same. It takes some balls to place a song about a woman burning due to her not being attracted to a man. I love this song, but jesus, Disney.

Initially Frollo was blaming Esmeralda but at the "...God have mercy on me" and the way he turned toward the wall. Even how he suddenly opened his eyes and said "but she will..." clearly shows that he knew he was very much at fault in the trouble.

It seems to me that jean Claude frolo is severely obsessive compulsive. He is fixated upon old church teaching that the seven deadly sins are mortal sins to which one is condemned to hell. Now the 7 deadly sins can be mortal but only based on their severity. Frolo didn't even whack it, to our knowledge anyway (which is still considered "gravely disordered" under church teaching). Which means he's actually not in a state of mortal sin, however it seems his obsessive compulsive disorder is fixated on a fear of hell, a common subset among OCD suffers, ESPECIALLY Catholic sufferers, because unlike most of Christianity, hell is still a real possibility within it. Which is almost more logical, as baptism should not automatically qualify one for heaven, nor should confessing Christ as Lord and savior (as in evangelical traditions) Any serial killer could do this, as it is simple and requires no real contrition. Likewise he attempts to rationalize his misperceived mortal sin as a side effect of witchcraft. I would say perhaps he extremely mentally I'll. Honestly the writers must have had some decent understanding of both Theology and Psychology to create such a fasinating scenario. Truly impressive

Well... the meaning of this song totally flew over my head when I was a kid. Now I know why my mom got upset when I sand it.
