I don't care about genres or musical education. But I do like these guys far more than I like Yngwie Malmsteen, which is just personal preference, not saying one is better than the other. AJ often writes the music for the piano first, then breaks into two guitar parts. He also often hears the music in his head as other classical instruments before he writes it, but that doesn't make it neo-classical either, not that I give a shit :).

Well maybe in their harmonies they use the classical rules for changes In harmony... but idk I havnt studied the sheet music for death metal EVER. If there is repetitive 5ths tben its not classically influenced, as repetitive 5ths are not allowed. *headbangs

And dont be an idiot like the last guy Ian Jackson and say that its because so-and-so has whatever level of musical education, because I've seen death metal musicians who are trained in music theory, but that doesn't mean that they're classically influenced.

Hey dumbass, having a certification in music theory doesnt automatically make one's music neoclassical. Neoclassical is a genre of music, not a skill level... And its a genre which has a very distinct sound. Which this does not have. So no, it is not. Listen to yngvie malmsteen and then get back to me on that.

It sucks that I'm just now getting into these guys. Although, from what I've heard, Digital Veil is the only album by this band that I REALLY liked. The musicality is s much better, and I personally prefer this vocalist. Such an incredibly talented group.
